CHAPTER I
It was almost the end of summer, and it's also the start of a new world for Otani Ren, a small, dark blue-haired boy who just finished junior high at Shibuya [he ain't the main character here.]. It was monday morning, and everyone was in a hurry to start a new life in South High.
*beep-bee-bee-bee-beep*
The clock never stopped ringing.
"ugh"
"did I just finish fixing my speech?"
"am I prepared for today?"
"did I just finish fixing my speech?"
"am I prepared for today?"
Questions filled his head as he opened and closed his chestnut-brown eyes repeatedly. Obviously, he wasn't prepared.
"Ani-chan wake up!" something small kept pushing him off the bed. It was his sister. He just ignored it as he did to the alarm clock.
"Ani-chan! You're late! it's almost 7:20!" Apparently, the school gate closes at 7:40. His eyes permanently opened. He looked at the alarm clock standing on top of the oak sidetable.
"Shoot! I'm late!" He clutched his head with his hands and stood up from his bed. He ran towrds the bathroom, took his shirt off, unzipped his pants, took off his underwear, and opened his shower. Yumi, his sister, was already outside in the front yard with her school uniform on. Otani hurriedly dried his hair and put his school uniform on. The look of the uniform did not fit his look properly. He ran towards the kitchen, stuffed a croissant in between his teeth, and went straight to the garage to pick up his bike. He threw his bag on the front basket and carried Yumi to the back seat. He started pedalling to Yumi's school and dropped her off there. Then he rushed to the nearest bike station to park his bike. He ran and ran until he reached the hill, and he had to go down where the school was found.
Unfortunately, he was the only one walking down the steep hill towards the school because he was late. Walking gave him time to finish his croissant but he was not yet satisfied. He hadn't eaten dinner last night because he was making his speech even though he never actually made one. He did not have that chance to admire the orange withering leaves showering back and forth with the wind which made a beautiful sight to behold.
It was still a long walk toward the school and he started to run. While running, looked at his watch and saw a big 8:00 on the center.
"Shoot!" he shouted as his run was going faster and faster, only a few inches away but he could see the large black gate closed and 3 students are standing in front of it. They were two boys and one girl. The first one had black, spiky hair that stood up from the scalp, with a bit bulgy body, lean, but not skinny, pinkish white skin, and reddish eyes. He wore glasses with a thin frame and thick lenses that would describe him as being either a computer freak of a bibliophile. The other one was smaller than the first one but he was much more thicker. His hair was a lot lighter and browner than the other, with bangs, chin-length, and long hair at the back that flipped at the tips. He doesn't look like anything but an outcast. The girl is cute, she looks like a lolita character with two small pigtails at both sides of her head, leaving her long, golden-brown hair laid back.
"Hey there little guy! ya late for junior high?" asked the one with the glasses. The girl looked at him with her ocean blue eyes that seemed to enjoy another company in front of the closed school gate. Otani remembered the glasses guy's question and looked back at him. "Excuse me, but I'm in league with the freshmen!" cried Otani. "Oh, sorry" said glasses guy with a confused smile on his face. "You don't look like a highschooler to me.." said the girl. "Oh, uh, Otani." he shook his hands with the girl. "Hikari" she replied. "Oh, I'm Ryu." said glasses guy [I'm glad he introduced his name so I won't be repeating 'glasses guy' anymore..]. Otani looked at the other one. "He said his name was Sachi." said Ryu. "He doesn't talk that much.." he added. "Er, about the gate?" asked Hikari, wanting to go inside already. She couldn't afford to stay outside during the fisrt day of classes. "We're gonna have to find another way in." answered Ryu. "Let's go around these walls." said Sachi, finally speaking. They ran silently around the school walls and noticed that the walls ran lower as they went further around. "Let's climb from here." said Ryu, pointing to the shortest limit of the walls. He put a black handkerchief over his mouth and jumped across the five foot wall. "Wait there!" shouted Ryu, already on the other side.
otani and the others waited outside and went to a light conversation. "Which class are you in?" asked Hikari to Otani. "I-B." answered Otani. "Oh my! I'm in I-B too!!" said Hikari, with a spirited look on her face. "I-B too." said Sachi. "Really? we should all go to class together!" exclaimed Hikari. Before the conversation went deeper, they heard a loud "HEY!" from a janitor sounding guy. After that, punches and kicks of excrutiation were heard until the janitor sounding dude stopped moaning. Afterwards, Ryu jumped at the top of the walls and threw a rope at them. Sachi and Otani agreed that Hikari would go first but Hikari insisted that they go on ahead. Sachi went up first, then Otani, and Hikari. The two jumped successfully down but Hikari remained standing on top. The person Ryu just knocked down a was starting to gain conciousness again and she had no choice but to jump. The soles of her feet slipped down the walls and she was not sure of her jump. Ryu ran towards her and caught her at the back and at her legs. She took a deep sigh. "C'mon!" yelled Ryu as he kicked the head of the man to retain his unconciousness. He covered the man's face with his handkechief and they hurriedly ran through the offices, and snuck through to get to the high school building.
