Everybody in row 1 got chances to meet and know each other during the first five minutes of their break but they did not really have the chance to talk to one person. He’s the guy on the front seat, Rai. They were all scared of going near him because of his eccentric attitude that pushed them backwards. They all planned something at the back of the classroom.
“Someone really has to talk to that guy, I’m really hungry..” said Ryu while scratching his head.
“Why are you guys scared of that person? He’s not a serial killer now, is he?” explained Hikari as she slowly stepped forward towards Rai.
Her feet and her arms were trembling. She was actually nervous that time, but she had to show some spirit to the group so that they’ll look forward to being good friends with each other. Before she spoke, she took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a brief moment.
“Hi! I’m Hikari!” she exclaimed. Her smile was crooked and full of tension. She gave a hand to shake him but before that fair hand slid up to the direction of his chest, He broke her with an insulting remark.
“Who cares?” exclaimed Rai while giving her a tremendous scowl before turning his head violently towards the opposite direction.
A very dissapointed look formed out of Hikari’s face as she went back to the group. She felt like a huge boulder fell on her back because of the humiliation.
“Now you know?” teased Ryu with a very confident smug. Hikari stuck her tongue out to Ryu, adding to the humiliation.
“My turn?” said Rein. Her sweet voice seems to have given everyone much more spirit than Hikari. Apparently, her beautiful face had mesmerized most of their male students while she gave out her introduction. Rai was in front so he didn’t see her and she believes that her charm could actually pull this off. She went straight to Rai while skipping gracefully like a world class ballerina.
“Hey there! I’m Rein. Its nice to meet you! I think we have a lot in common.” She said with a very confident tone, her smile comparable to a Californ ia sunset, and her posture as straight as a red carpet.
“Who asks you?” replied Rai, same expression.
She was petrified like a rock while he turned his head away from her, and disappointed that her perfection didn’t pay off.
Naru, Sachi, and Otani went to carry her back to them.
“Ok, so actually, nobody works.” Said Naru with a very low voice, insisting on eating already and losing hope.
“Uhh, can I try?” asked Otani as they reached the group. His cute [wow cute..] face showed a plainly small bit of hope to the group.
“Eh, sure little buddy, just make it quick..” replied Rai. His stomach was spotaneously grumbling. Otani turned back at them with his arms and legs trembling more than Hikari did. He bit his lip as he slowly reached the serious character. Rai noticed him and gave him a stare. He replied a blank smile. Before he could speak, Rai broke him off.
“You’re Ren, right?” said Rai with a look that seemed to have remembered something very important to him in the past.
“Oh, uhh, yeah.. P-please call me Otani...” replied Otani, already shaking.
“Nice to meet you.” He gave the hand that everybody wanted to have.
“H-h.. N-nice to meet you t-too..” Otani said while shaking his hand.
“Do you want to join us this lunch break?” asked Otani.
“Nope.” Replied Rai and facing back at the window.
Otani walked back to the group with a smile on his face. Rai was also smiling but no one saw him.
“Nice going Otani!” cheered Ryu.
“So, let’s go to the rooftop to eat! hehe..” said Hikari and Rein, trying to cover up the failure they commited and avoiding theirselves being a talk of the group. They went to the cafeteria first because Urumi and Sachi didn’t bring food for themselves. Then they went straight up to the rooftop.
They enjoyed the sight of the orange withering leaves, falling down and dancing with the breeze and giving out the signal of the upcoming autumn with its trees standing proud as tall as the high school buildings. They smelled the breeze and were stimulated to eat there.
“Hey Sachi, where’s your world? C’mon, I wanna see!” teased Ryu, who was really trying to force something out of him, reasons still unknown.
“Stop it Ryu!” reprimanded Hikari. “We’re here to eat and enjoy our lunch!” she added.
“R-Rai?” said Otani.
“What?” asked Naru with a much bigger tone.
Otani pointed to their south, to a person eating there, leaning back at the iron railings while staring at them. They were surprised to see Rai eating at the place where he declined to have lunch with them. They continued along and chose seats. Otani sat beside Rai, Naru beside Otani, Sachi on the other side of Rai, Ryu beside Sachi, Hikari beside Ryu, Rein at their center, and Urumi at the back of Naru. Naru saw Otani’s lunch box and saw five strawberries laying down on the white rice.
“Whee, strawberries !” shouted Naru. “Can I have four?” she added. Otani replied with one nod and couldn’t say yes to giving his only lunch to her, but he had no choice.
They almost finished eating, with the silent Rai accompanying them. They enjoyed their break as new acquaintances.
“Oh, I forgot, if you need anything, please tell me.” Said Otani to Rai.
Naru had only one strawberry left but before she ate it, she stopped to stare and admire it.
Ryu on the other hand, is forcing and teasing Sachi. “C’mon, show us your world, what’re you, chicken?!” said Ryu. Then Sachi, his face turning paler, seemed to have been agitated and forced a crooked smile on his face. Hikari screamed. A flash of light appeared for 2 seconds. After that, an oblongated portal in a shade of deep purple appeared on the door that served as the exit from the rooftop. The screaming Hikari disappeared along with the clueless Rein and Sachi. Rai hugged Otani tightly, not allowing the portal to suck them both in.”Hikari and the others are in that portal, we have to get them!” said Ryu, excited to see the other world as much as Uruli does. “Go on, jump!” yelled Urumi, followed by Ryu, Otani, and Rai. Naru’s strawberry got sucked in by the portal so she jumped in without knowing she did to catch it, but she didn’t.
The 5 students who were left finally reached the inside of the portal. Naru didn’t like what she saw. Her screams could tell that she does not love the state she is in as much as Urumi and Ryu desperately wanted to. It was the same as the school, but only there were no lights, there weren’t a sun, a moon, or even stars. It was pure black and grey. The layout of the school corridors were that of an abandoned hospital. The metal on the windows rusted, as well as the pipes on the ceiling. The brightly colored doors were a pale wood. The floor has dust all over it, and the walls have scrathces and dents around it. As soon as Naru opened her eyes one more time, she saw the dead building and halted to a scream at the top of her lungs.
“Devil Sync!” yelled Ryu as his eyes turned to a color of a bloody midnight. “I sensed something.” Ryu told Urumi.
“Wait, what exactly are you, Ryu?” asked Urumi.
“I’ll tell you later, right now, we’ve gotta keep this yellin’ pig quiet.” Explained Ryu. He put his hands on Naru’s mouth to shut her up.
“Someone’s coming.” Said Rai. They kept quiet. They saw a shadow, somewhat forming a figure of a boy in the vast fog of nothingness. Its arms stood up and took the shape of a stretching man. It didn’t look like it would do them any harm ut Ryu and Rai guarded them to make sure. As it went closer, it mentioned a name.
